Ruff Rogers, while playing with his marbles in the park, loses one down a rabbit hole, and follows it down. The rabbit hole turns out to be a teleport to an alien planet.
The planet, ruled by the mad Dr. Destiny, is home to a fearsome army of robots called Tinheads. Ruff finds that his marble collection has been scattered across the planet, and embarks on a quest to reclaim his collection, and free the planet from Destiny and his Tinhead Army.
Gameplay
Ruff 'n' Tumble is a half platform game, half
shoot 'em up . Ruff runs, jumps and shoots through each level, destroying the Tinhead robots with his multi-purpose machine gun, capable of shootingbullets ,laser ,missiles or becoming a flame thrower (depending on what power-ups are collected during the level). Each level is completed by collecting a set number of marbles (coming in the red, green and blue variety), and then heading to the exit.Ruff can not only fire to the left and right, but upwards and diagonally as well (but not downwards).
Worlds
There are 4 worlds in the game, each with 4 main levels in them, and a fifth Boss level. They are:
*Fantasy Forest - A forested world with plenty of underground areas (where the graphics darken accordingly).
*Underground Mine - A mine of crystals, slippery surfaces, molten lava. This world also contains underwater areas, in which Ruff must swim.
*Tinhead Factory - As the name suggests, the world where the Tinhead robots are built. A metallic world of sparks, lights and electricity.
*Dr. Destiny's Castle - The final world. A medieval castle featuring
knight -like Tinheads robots.Each world features its own variety of enemies, traps, and industrial metal-style soundtrack.
Like many platform games, Ruff n' Tumble uses a password system that enables the player to access the various worlds. The password, however, will only let the player begin on the first level of each world.
