Te-uru-ra'i Ari'i-mate Tamatoa-Tau-tu Tamatoa VI was born at
Huahine in1853 . He was theAri'i-rahi ofRa'iatea andTaha'a . He was the second son ofTe-uru-ra'i Ari'i-mate Ari'i-rahi of Huahine. He was installed asAri'i-rahi of Ra'iatea and Taha'a in1884 . His crowning took place onJanuary 22 ,1885 . He was finally deposed when the French annexed his lands, the islands of Ra'iatea andTaha'a , onMarch 16 ,1888 .He married twice:

Tetua-nui Ha'amarurai (daughter of Tamatoa Atiti-Oroi, of the Tati family ofPapara ) and
