Colin Butts

Colin Butts is an English writer and author, manly in popularist youth orientated focused works.

Butts founded Tuesday Morning Publishing to publish his own novel Is Harry On the Boat? in 1997, and sold 20,000 copies from his garage. It was then taken on by Orion Publishing and went on to become a six-figure best seller. The book was made into a film and then a TV series for Sky after a 15-year-old Lilly Allen read it and showed it to her mother, film producer Alison Owen of Ruby Films. Ruby Films and Rapido TV went on to produce the 2002/3 series for Sky One. He wrote a sequel called Is Harry Stll on the Boat? and another Ibiza based novel called A Bus Could Run You Over. He has more recently focussed on scriptwriting and wrote six episodes for the final series of Sky One's football based drama: Dream Team.

The stylistic influence of the Is Harry on the Boat? film and series can be seen in subsequent dramas. It also spawned several reality style documentaries on its subject matter. Butts is an important cult writer whose work (and DIY approach) has gone on to influence many other young authors.

Butts lives in Ibiza where he is part owner of Plastik, a bar that has been hugely influential in improving the quality and perception of the much-maligned San Antonio.^[1]
