Thomas J. Mostert, Jr. is President of the Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and is due to retire at the end of 2007. He coordinates the many-faceted mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Pacific Union Conference territory - the states of
Arizona ,California ,Hawaii ,Nevada , andUtah . He is a member of many Union, Division, and General Conference boards and committees. He is also on the board of directors ofLa Sierra University andPacific Union College . He assists at constituency meetings, and helps develop conference management policies. He meets with local conference committees to further church unity and mission, and is an advisor to conference, college, and university presidents. Mostert is chairman of the Adventist Health board, which operates 20 hospitals, plus other healthcare facilities, in California, Hawaii,Oregon , andWashington .Mostert was elected president of the Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in 1986. He was born in Bellflower,
California , and attendedCollegedale Academy in Collegedale,Tennessee . He has aBachelor of Arts degree with a major intheology fromSouthern Adventist University and aMaster of Divinity degree fromAndrews University Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary . Mostert began his ministerial service as a pastor in the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference in 1964. He was also a pastor in the Chesapeake Conference and ministerial secretary of the Potomac Conference before serving as president of the Mountain View, Hawaii, and Southeastern California conferences. Mostert is married to Pauline. They have three adult daughters: Sheryl, Julie and Lori.Thomas Mostert authored the book "Hidden Heresy?" in 2005, published by Pacific Press. In the book Mostert probes the mega/giga church movement - its leaders, philosophies, and articles of faith.
