Maury Brown

Maury Brown is the founder and president of the Business of Sports Network, a sports business analyst and author who was a regular columnist for Baseball Prospectus and now an occasional contributor. Before writing for Baseball Prospectus, Brown was on the staff of the The Hardball Times. Brown is formerly the co-chair of SABR's Business of Baseball committee and was also the Vice-President of NWSABR.

In September 2006, BusinessOfBaseball.com was transferred to SABR, and Brown started BizOfBaseball.com, a for-profit site that retains much of what was on BusinessOfBaseball.com. This includes a vast array of documents, ballpark renderings, data, news, and a large catalog of interviews including Bowie Kuhn, Marvin Miller, Andrew Zimbalist, Bob Costas, Kevin Towers, Stan Kasten, Steve Lyons. BusinessofBaseball.com was initially launched to help preserve the late Doug Pappas's work. Brown has worked to extend the earlier work by Pappas. Brown was part of the Oregon Stadium Campaign, a coalition organized to promote the establishment of a Major League Baseball franchise in Oregon. [http://www.oregonstadiumcampaign.com/] .

Since launching BizOfBaseball.com he has launched sites for football, basketball, and hockey.

Maury wrote an essay for Rob Neyer's "Big Book of Baseball Blunders" on the collusion rulings of the late 1980s.

In early 2008, Brown embarked on an Autism awareness campaign through the Business of Sports Network after his youngest son Travis was diagnosed with the disorder. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Glenna, and two sons, Tyler and Travis.
