The Somali Ethiopian Peace and Development Agency (SEPDA) was founded to work for the attainment of peace, economic development, promotion of democracy and respect for human rights in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. SEPDA intends to promote greater understanding of the values and conditions that enable peaceful relations among people of the Ethiopia. SEPDA is concerned with people’s issues and problems and is committed to seeking for impartial and positive solutions.

Objectives

Support and campaign for peace and stability in the Somali Region of Ethiopia through reconciliation, conflict mitigation, rehabilitation, and building of democratic institutions and good governance.

Combat poverty, underdevelopment and diseases through education, awareness, and economic development with the assistance of domestic and international communities, aid agencies and the government.

Build the population from the grassroots capacity, so they can take up qualities for leadership in the community and society in general, and unite to organize themselves around common interest to articulate their own needs, and represent their own views.

Advocate for human rights, democracy and good governance in the Somali region of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian nation, nationalities, and the population in general.

Build inter-connection and solidarity between different and nationalities of Ethiopia, in order to overcome anarchies caused by language, culture, and the legacy of political segregation.

Support and encourage repatriation and voluntary participation of the community in the Diaspora so that they can participate in the process of democratization and economic development of the Somali region.

Uphold the rights of women and oppose any form of discrimination against women, shall marshal resources against child poverty and develop actions that would help economically disadvantaged children.
