John L. Walters

John L. Walters

John L. Walters is a former member of the band Landscape. Walters subsequently produced records for Swans Way, Kissing the Pink, Twelfth Night, The Mike Gibbs Orchestra and pianist Mark Springer. From 1987-96 Walters was a member of the ‘electronic jazz orchestra’ Zyklus, with Neil Ardley, Warren Greveson and Ian Carr. In 1997, after working for the "Architectural Review" as acting production editor, he joined "Eye" magazine as managing editor, and subsequently became its editor. He holds a degree in Maths with Physics from King's College London.

UP editor

In 1992, with Laurence Aston, he co-founded the audio journal Unknown Public [http://www.unknownpublic.com] , and is also its editor.

Eye editor

Since 1999 Walters has been the editor of "Eye". [http://www.eyemagazine.com/home.php] "Eye" was founded in 1990 by Rick Poynor. The second editor of "Eye" was Max Bruinsma. Walters has been editor since Eye no. 33.

Music journalism

Walters also writes about creative music (jazz, electronica, world music, etc.) for The Guardian.
