Aravenu

Aravenu is a village in Kotagiri Taluk of the The Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu, India. The population is largely Badaga and it is thought to be an original Badaga Hatti.

It is located 5 km from Kothagiri on the Ooty to Mettupalayam State Highway 15. This is one of the Nilgiri Ghat Roads. A further road links Aravenu directly with Coonoor via Bandishola.

Catherine Waterfalls is located 3km from Aravenu. It's one of the most beautiful falls in the Nilgiris. You can spot the Dolphin's Nose on the opposite hill and the scenic beauty here makes one spellbound. A dip in the cold waters gushing downhill is an experience of a lifetime. A must see for one and all.

This area is also very rich in wildlife, the Indian bison can be spotted grazing in the wooded areas, other animals that thrive here are leopards, spotted deer, and wild boar.
