The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer will be a not-for-profit corporation to implement the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control. It was announced on 23 November 2006, and will be funded $260 million over five years. According to a news article it will have no legislative power.
Leadership
The chair of the organization will be Jeffrey Lozon, the president and CEO of Saint Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Simon Sutcliffe, the president and CEO of the BC Cancer Agency will be vice chair.
The board of directors will be made up of representatives from cancer organizations, provincial and territorial governments, the federal government and Canadian aboriginals.
