Arnold Ilagan Atienza (born
September 29 ,1972 ) (age 35) was appointed as Presidential Adviser onYouth Affairs by PresidentGloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2005. He is the youngest of two sons ofManila MayorJose L. Atienza and is serving as the city's head of the city's sports development office and the inner city development program. He is more popularly called as Ali Atienza, first gaining fame as a gold medalist for thePhilippines taekwondo national team. OnMarch 28 ,2007 , he formally filed his papers as candidate forMayor of theCity of Manila during theMay 14 ,2007 mid-termelections . He lost to former Sen. Alfredo Lim for the 2007 mayoralty race, but he said that he agreed to lose.Personal Profile
Ali graduated from
De La Salle University with the degree BS inPhysics , with specialization inComputer Applications , (1989-1994), and earned from thePamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila hismaster’s degree in Government Management.He was the lone gold medalist in the
1994 Asian Taekwondo Championships at the age of 21 .In 2001, he became the youngest chairman of the
Manila Sports Council (MASCO) which hosted the Manila Youth Games, the MV National Invitational and Manila Marathons.External links
