"What Good Is Grief to a God?" is D.I.'s third full-length studio album, which was released in 1988. Although the record did not sell very well, "What Good Is Grief to a God?" was anticipated by both music critics and fans as a result of the band's moderate success with their 1985 debut album, "Ancient Artifacts", and its 1986 follow-up "Horse Bites Dog Cries".

"What Good Is Grief to a God?" was also the first D.I. album recorded without the Agnew brothers, Rikk and Alfie. It was also the band's first release not recorded with drummer John Knight since their 1984 EP "Team Goon" Their replacements for this album were Mark "The Kid" Creak on guitar, Hedge on bass and Stevie DRT on drums.

"Johnny's Got a Problem" was originally on "Horse Bites Dog Cries".
