"Battlefield" is the sixth part of the progressive rock classic "Tarkus," from the album with the same name by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It is the only part entirely written by Greg Lake and features what many consider to be some of the most profound lyrics of the entire albumfacts|date=March 2008.

Following Tarkus' adventures, "Battlefield" is about Tarkus' loss against the Manticore, his enemy, on the previous part of the song. Lake added these lines from King Crimson's "Epitaph" to the end of the song: "Confusion will be my epitaph / As I crawl a cracked and broken path. / If we make it we can all sit back and laugh."

These lines were not sung on the studio version. However, the version on the live album "Welcome Back My Friends to the Show That Never Ends" includes these lines.
