The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection

The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection

The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection was founded in 1961, based on the collection donated by Pavle Beljanski, a diplomat and art collector, to the Serbian people on November 18, 1957. The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection presents the finest works of Serbian art from the period between 1900-1970. It is located in Novi Sad, the capital of the Serbian province Vojvodina, on Gallery Square 2 ("Трг Галерија 2").

The collection is arranged chronologically, starting with works from the fist generation of modernists, including Nadežda Petrović, Milan Milovanović, and Kosta Miličević, continuing with works from the most prominent representatives of Serbian art between the two World Wars, including Sava Šumanović, Milan Konjović, Petar Dobrović, Ivan Radović, Jovan Bijelić, Petar Lubarda, Sretan Stojanović, and Risto Stijović. There are also works from painters of the second half of the 20th century, including Zora Pavlović, Liza Križanić, Živko Stojsavljević, Milenko Šerban, and Ljubica Sokić.

Apart from the Pavle Beljanski collection, the permanent exhibition includes the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Hall (1966), and the Artist Memorial Hall (1971).

Memorial Hall

The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Hall gives homage to the donor and founder of this collection, including a reconstruction of his workspace, complete with furniture, paintings, books, photos, documents, and a myriad of personal objects.

Artist Memorial Hall

The Artist Memorial Hall represents the 36 artists from Beljanski's collection. Here, one can see their portraits, self-portraits, photos and many other personal objects, especially those used in their work, such as brushes, paint and pallets.

Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection Award

The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection Award was founded by the donor himself in 1965. It is a prestigious acknowledgment for the best B.A. essay in national art history and it has been awarded every October for the past 39 years. According to Pavle Beljanski's wish to help the education of young experts, as well as future art connoisseurs, this Memorial Collection has opened its door to art lovers from different generations, including the youngest.

Activities and painting workshops are intended for students of grammar and high schools, while the Art academy holds some of their classes here.
