Rednal is an area on the extreme south-western tip of
Birmingham ,England , nearLongbridge and theLickey Hills . Electorally, it is in the Longbridge Ward of Birmingham City Council..Features
The east of Rednal stands in the shadow of the former Longbridge car factory, which was built some 30 years before most of the homes in Rednal, but most of which has been demolished for redevelopment. A large part of the area is covered by Cofton Park in the immediate south of the area. Within this is Lowhill Farm. Within Rednal, there are two public houses, 'The Hare And Hounds' and 'The Coppice'.
Education
To the north is "Rednal Junior and Infants School".
"Lickey Hills Primary School" is a day state
primary school that caters for boys and girls from the ages of 3-11 and has approx 400 children in the school. The headmaster Stephan Wallin has been at the school for many years. Lickey Hills was founded in 1954 and celebrated its 50th birthday on the 1st July 2004. It was a middle school until 2000 and then became a primary school.Newman
The body of
Cardinal Newman was buried in the small Roman Catholic cemetery at Rednal, by the Oratory country house. Attempts to move his body to Birmingham Oratory, near Birmingham's city centre, as he is being considered for posthumous canonization, failed due to the absence of any mortal remains.Tolkien
