Butters joined Brighton on29 August 2002 on a free transfer from Gillingham.One of the highest moments of his career would be his winning goal against West Ham, in the Championship, in
2005 .Butters played his 600th professional game during 2006. He has been runner-up in the club's official player of the season awards for the last two years running.
Butters' signed a new one-year deal with the Seagulls during
May 2007 which will keep him at the club until the summer of2008 .On the
