Acartophthalmidae is a family of very small (1-2.5 mm), dark flies with pubescent arista, found in the order Diptera. Only four species are included, all in theGenus "Acartophthalmus" Czerny. All are Holarctic.

Biology

Almost unknown. Adults have been found mostly in forests. Larvae have been reared from dead wood and decaying organic material. See also External Links (below).
