Julius Joseph (basketball)

Julius Joseph (born November 16 1975 in London, England) is a British professional basketball player, and currently plays for the Scottish Rocks in the British Basketball League.

Educated at Georgia College & State University (1997-2000), 6ft4 Joseph was a member of the British student team that competed at the World Student Games in 1997, 1999 and 2001. The London born forward has represented his country in both senior rosters of the England national team and the Great Britain team.

He started his playing career at Westminster Warriors (1996) of the National Basketball League, before moving on to college and turning pro in 2000 by signing for BBL frontrunners, the Manchester Giants. In 26 appearances for the Giants, Joseph averaged 17.12 points-per-game and 4.96 rebounds-per-game. His talent was noticed on the European contintent, and after just a season back in Britain, Julius was signed by Euphony Bree from Belgium, where he spent three successful seasons.

In 2004, Joseph returned home to play for the Scottish Rocks, his first spell at the club, but after only 5 appearances (12.50 PPG, 5.00 RPG), he moved back to Belgium to play for Colfontaine, where he spent one season (2004-05). The 2005-06 season saw him return to Scotland and the Rocks, where he averaged 18.73 PPG and 4.94 RPG and helped his team reach the final of the BBL Championship Play-offs, losing out to the Newcastle Eagles.
