Lloyd Fields serves as the Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor. He was elected in 2006 receiving 456,373 votes. He defeated 12-year incumbent Republican Brenda Reneau, who received 453,645 votes. In 2002 Fields lost to Reneau. Many said the difference was Democratic Governor Brad Henry's popularity combined with his television ads that said Reneau did not go to work. Vital to his victory were Field/Office coordinator Marcus Hayes and Campaign Manager Ivan Holmes. Mannix Barnes, another operative in the campaign, is said to have conceived the TV spot ideas.
