Vicki Viidikas (
25 September ,1948 –27 November ,1998 ) was a twentieth centuryAustralian poet andprose writer .Vicki Viidikas was born and grew up in
Sydney , Australia. Dropping out of school, she encountered the BalmainNew South Wales poetry scene in the late 1960s. There she encountered, among others,Ken Bolton , John Forbes,Martin Johnston andJohn Tranter . The ‘counter culture ’ and her travels inAsia , especiallyIndia , are recurrent subjects in her poetry. Her untimely death was much mourned in Australia's poetry community.Works
