__NOTOC__"An Apocalypse to Remember" is a second season episode of the animated series "American Dad!".

Plot

Stan is late to work, arriving in the middle of a nuclear war drill. Thinking it is real, he and his confused family evacuate to the woods, convinced they are the only humans left on Earth. It is only later when Stan gets a phone call from Roger that he realizes the drill was fake. But instead of admitting to the family that he was wrong, he keeps up with the charade. Later, they meet a mountain man named Buckle, who went to live in the forest ten years for fear of a nuclear apocalypse, and tells everyone that those who did survive the nuclear fallout became horrible mutants. Stan, fearing for his role as leader, takes the family back into the woods. Searching for food he stumbles upon a camp for the deaf, but once the campers see him stealing their food they chase after him. Francine, Steve, and Hayley think Stan's being chased by mutants and after running out of the forest they learn that the world hasn't ended. Mad at Stan, they lose all trust in him, and go back to thinking he's a boob.

In a side story, Roger's blender breaks right before "Grey's Anatomy" and is subsequently destroyed by Stan right before the nuclear war drill. While shopping online, Klaus informs him that married couples get to register for gifts and don't have to pay. Roger goes onto JDate with elaborate plans to marry a 'desperate' woman named Shari (Lisa Edelstein) simply for the gift. He proposes (and she accepts) on their first date as Roger hastily tries to set up the wedding before the next episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Once home, Stan is deperate to win his family's trust back, and is horrified to learn that Buckle secretly followed them home in an effort to stalk Hayley, but the family is unwilling to believe him after what he put them through. The next day, at the wedding, Roger finally gets his blender and wants nothing more to do with the annoying Shari. However, her father won't accept any of his excuses to call off the ceremony. Buckle tries to abduct Hayley but is stopped by Stan. He explains that he was desperate for Hayley since this was the first time he'd seen in a woman in years. In the end, Buckle and Shari marry and the Smith's come to trust Stan again. (Another side plot element had Steve getting addicted to psychotropic berries, and he hallucinates the end. A sunflower and a bee tell him that the berries are going to kill him, while the bee pollinates the sunflower in a pornographic manner).

*Stan says Denzel Washington is like Harrison Ford dipped in chocolate.
*When Stan asks if he is talking to an astronaut Roger replies that he is John Glenn.
*Buckle is based on Grizzly Adams, the title character from The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, a popular 1970s tv show.
*The end theme of Ugly Betty is audible during the scene where Roger goes to blend a drink for Grey's Anatomy
*Russel Rothberg is voiced by Elliott Gould and is designed by his look. Both Gould and Rothberg are Jewish.
*The scene in which Stan is chased by the deaf children is a parody of the opening from "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
*Stan says that Steve got to shake hands with Morgan Freeman (while he was pulling his hands off his neck). He also states that Freeman was the narrator in March of the Penguins and that it was a powerful piece of cinema, though he also claims to have not seen it.
*Stan remarks of Steve's favourite author being Harry Potter (actually, JK Rowling), which is probably a jibe at his appearance.Steve frowns at him for most of the scene. This idea would be taken literally in "Dope And Faith".
