Sombrerete is a colonial city and its surrounding municipality of the same name located in western part of the
Mexican state ofZacatecas .Known for being a picturesque city and for its large deposits ofmineral ores , discovered in the sixteenth century. The city is considered the fifth most important city in the state.Geography
Near the Sombreretillo Hill, the city of Sombrerete city is 167 km from the capital, Zacatecas of

Demographics

2005 19,353 people resided in the town of Sombrerete, while the municipality had a population of 61,652 inhabitants. The municipal total represents 4.255 percent of the total population ofZacatecas state. The land area is 3,571 km² (1,378.77 sq mi) and includes many smaller outlying towns, the largest of which are Colonia González Ortega, Charco Blanco, and Colonia Hidalgo.General Information
