Dželaludin Muharemović

Dželaludin "Đelo" Muharemović (born March 23, 1970 in Sarajevo) is a former Bosnian football player. He is currently employed as a sporting director in FK Željezničar. He was also a replacement team manager for four months.

Playing career

As a kid, he started playing football in his favourite FK Željezničar. He was considered to be one of the biggest prospects in the club and when he have reached the senior squad, he was sent on loan to UNIS Vogošća. In 1992, war in Bosnia and Herzegovina began and every football activity was stopped. However, club was reestablished soon and Muharemović played in first Bosnian championship in 1994. After that, he moved to Croatian NK Zagreb. One year later, he have returned to FK Željezničar and in course of ten seasons he played more than 300 official games for the club, scoring 127 goals.

In winter of 2001, he moved to rich Russian second division club Volgar Astrahan'. He stayed there less than a year, as he returned to FK Željezničar in autumn. In spring of 2005, this creative midfielder have declared that he is retiring from professional playing career.

He also played for Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. He collected 18 caps and scored 4 goals. He made his debut on February 22, 1997. in a game against Vietnam (Bosnia won 4-0).

Records

Although he was playing as a midfield playmaker in the team, he was the best goalscorer of Bosnian league in 2000/2001 season with record 31 goals. He is an owner of many other records. He is second all-time record goalscorer in the club's history and also a joint topscorer in history of Sarajevo derby with six goals. He also scored five goals in a league game against Velež Mostar in 2000, something no one else has repeated yet.

Coaching career

After retirement, club chairman offered him a place of sporting director. He accepted the offer, but after the manager Nenad Starovlah was sacked in September 2006, Muharemović temporary took over his position as a replacement.
