Vidhu Vinod Chopra born on September 5, 1956, is an academy award- nominated Indian producer and filmmaker. He is also the head of Vinod Chopra Productions. He is particularly known for producing the Munna Bhai films.

Early life

Chopra born on September 5, 1956 and was raised in Srinagar, Kashmir, India. He decided not to pursue his Doctorate at Cambridge University and chose to study direction at the Film and Television Institute of India.

He married a famous writer Anupama Chopra. He currently is a resident of United States.

Career

His film "An Encounter with Faces" was nominated for an Oscar in the short, non-fiction film category in 1979.

He has since been involved with a number of critically acclaimed films including "Parinda", ', the Munna Bhai series, " Parineeta" and the recently released film, '.
