John McGlynn

John McGlynn (born 19 December 1961, Musselburgh, Scotland) is a former Scottish footballer and current manager of Scottish Second Division club, Raith Rovers.

McGlynn enjoyed a brief senior playing career with Bolton Wanderers (1979-80) then Berwick Rangers (1981-84) before moving into junior football with firstly Musselburgh Juniors then Whitehill Welfare.cite news|url=http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport.cfm?id=484732006|publisher=Scotsman.com Sport|title=John still hale and hearty|date=29 March 2006]

During his time at Ferguson Park, McGlynn started coaching youth sides and gradually coaching rather than playing became his primary function. He was subsequently appointed co-manager at Easthouses Lily before returning to Musselburgh Juniors as manager in his own right.

In 1996, McGlynn was invited to assist with coaching the youth sides at Heart of Midlothian by newly appointed manager Jim Jefferies, initially on a part-time basis. Within two years he had earned a permanent position, eventually working his way up to the position of first-team coach.

He was twice appointed manager on a caretaker basis in 2005, after the departures of John Robertsoncite news|url=http://sport.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=24&id=525072005|publisher=Scotsman.com Sport|title=McGlynn: Elvis in good nick|date=14 May 2005] then George Burley.cite news|url=http://sport.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=24&id=2142432005|publisher=Scotsman.com Sport|title=McGlynn calling for brave Hearts|date=25 October 2005]
