Francis Charles Bridgeman

Brigadier Francis Charles Bridgeman, JP, (4 July 1846 – 14 September 1917) was a British soldier.

The second son of the 3rd Earl of Bradford and Hon. Selina Louisa Forester was educated in Harrow School, London. He served in the Scots Guards, receiving the rank of Colonel and was Commander of the Staffordshire Infantry Brigade from 1892 to 1899. Later he became Brigadier of the Central Group, London Regiment Volunteer Training Corps.

From 1885 to 1895, Bridgeman was Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolton. He was Justice of Peace for Staffordshire and Shropshire. Further he was made a Knight of the Order of Isabella la Catolica.

Family

Bridgeman was married twice. On 26 July 1883, he married firstly, Gertude Cecilia Hanbury, daughter of George Hanbury, and secondly, Agnes Florence Briscoe, daughter of Richard Holt Briscoe on 27 November 1913. He had five children by his first wife:

*Selina Adine Bridgeman (b. 1886), married firstly Captain Hon. Lawrence Ughtred Kay-Shuttleworth, son of the 1st Baron Shuttleworth on 1 February 1913, married secondly Major-General William Birchall Macaulay King, son of Colonel Frank King on 31 January 1920
*Commander Francis Paul Orlando Bridgeman (1888–1930), married Alice Dorothy Kleinwort, daughter of Herman Greverus Kleinwort on 11 May 1922
*Lieutenant Humphrey Herbert Orlando Bridgeman (1891–1917)
*Captain Orlando Clive Bridgeman (1898–1931), married Nancye Newzam Nicholson, daughter of Arthur Beresford Nicholson on 30 April 1924
