Shree Airlines

Shree Airlines

Shree Airlines is an airline based in Nepal, operating helicopter services.

History

The airline was incorporated in late 1990s and was originally called Air Ananya, but after a helicopter was burnt at Jiri by Maoists, Banwari Lal Mittal, Chairman and CEO of Shree Airlines, consulted an astrologer who suggested changing the name of the airline. Thus Air Ananya became Shree Airlines. (Shree means auspicious beginning).

Shree Airlines is the largest operator of helicopters in Nepal with a fleet of Mi-17 helicopters. These helicopters are capable of carrying up to 4000 kg of cargo or 24 people. Shree Airlines operates both cargo and passenger version of these helicopters.

During season, Shree Airlines operates charter flights to Muktinath, a pilgrimage detination in middle Nepal. Visiting Muktinath assures you salvation (Mukti means Freedom - In this context it means freedom from the cycle of birth and death). It alo operates charter flights to Hilsa in Nepal which is at the northern border for pilgrimage to holy Mount Kailash and Mansarovar.
