- Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Area Alumni Associations
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (ΦΜΑ) is a collegiate social fraternity for men of musicianly character. Today, its 214 chapters, 14 colonies, and 10 alumni associations serve to "advance music in America" on college campuses and in communities nationwide. To date, more than 130,000 men have been initiated into
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia , making it the largest and oldest secret society in music. Brothers who have left the institutions at which they were initiated remain an integral part of the fraternity asalumni members.Throughout the history of Sinfonia, alumni have participated and continued to do so in a variety of ways. They have been active participants in chapter activities, have served as advisors and mentors to chapters and have held the highest offices in fraternity leadership. Groups of alumni work for the good of the order, as well as to fulfill the Fraternity's Object. One of the current structures of these groups is alumni associations. The alumni association concept has been in existence since
1996 .Once A Sinfonian, Always A Sinfonian
As brothers (mostly initiated as collegiate members) graduate from their respective institutions, they enter the world at large as alumni members. A common phrase heard among brothers in the Fraternity is “Once a Sinfonian, Always a Sinfonian.” The spirit of this phrase has fostered alumni loyalty for more than one hundred years. As an alumnus, the opportunities to remain active with the Fraternity are limitless. Alumni associations, scattered throughout the country, provide more formalized ways for alumni Sinfonians to gather together and further the ideals and Object of the Fraternity.
Active Area Alumni Associations
Area Alumni Associations are currently active in California, Illinois, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Oklahoma and Washington, D.C. Alumni Associations are in a period of renewed growth during the fraternity's recent boom, and, as such, new interest groups and associations continue to sprout all around the country.
