Ernst Reijseger (b.
November 13 ,1954 ,Bussum ) is a Dutch cellist and composer. He specializes injazz ,improvised music , andcontemporary classical music and often gives solo concerts. He has worked withLouis Sclavis ,Derek Bailey ,Han Bennink ,Misha Mengelberg ,Gerry Hemingway ,Yo-Yo Ma ,Albert Mangelsdorff ,Franco D'Andrea ,Joëlle Léandre ,Georg Gräwe ,Trilok Gurtu , andMola Sylla , and has done severalworld music projects working with musicians fromSardinia ,Turkey ,Iran ,Senegal , andArgentina .He has made numerous recordings, both as solo cellist and with other groups, and has been the subject of a documentary film. He has also written several film scores, including that for the 2005

Mola Sylla , and theVoches De Sardinia .Werner Herzog , who lead the musicians, gave them simple instructions as to what the music should be like, including "Make space.".Reijseger later commented: "I had very little to do with the overall outcome of the music, it was them, "they" did it."

Reijseger's most well known solo album is
Colla Parte , which he recorded in a room of a small villa which he was staying in on a trip to Sardinia, this would be the same trip that he would meet theVoches De Sardinia .He has done several recordings with Mola Sylla, including
Requiem For a Dying Planet , andJanna .Reijseger is also a member of the Amsterdam String Trio, with
Ernst Glerum ,Maurice Horsthuis , and himself; and another trio, simply calledGraewe, Reijseger, Hemingway , withGeorg Graewe , Himself, andGerry Hemingway .He was also a member of the
ICP Orchestra (orInstant Composers Pool ) for many years, as well as theClusone Trio withMichael Moore andHan Bennink .External links
