Victoria Buckley Jewellery

[http://www.victoriabuckley.com Victoria Buckley] is an Australian jewellery designer who draws on celtic and other ancient designs. She is best known for her reinvention of the Posy ring and her use of inscriptions and language on her jewellery. According to her website, her 1992 Posy ring range " sparked a strong revival of the historical inscription genre [Victoriabuckley.com/about.php] ". Her landmark retail outlet is in Sydney's historic Strand Arcade.

Victoria Buckley began as a jewellery designer when organising a show of sculptors and performers at the 1992 Adelaide Arts Festival with New York based rock photographer Andrzej Liguz.

According to style guide Urban Boheme, " The atmosphere of unrestrained creativity led her to discover the satisfaction that comes with handcrafting, and she set about teaching herself goldsmithing from books. Within three years of selling from a stall at Paddington Markets, Victoria opened her very successful outlet in Sydney's historic Strand Arcade" [urban boheme]

The jewellery itself has been described ashaving " roots in medieval motifs, Mother Nature and fairy tales. " [ Flashfilm.com]

"Myths, legends, fairy secrets play out in her metal jewelry ala story telling techniques. The rose gold, not often seen these days even still, adds a sense of whimsy to her work which also includes engraved words and gemstones" [jewelry weblog]
