Huong Keenleyside (born Nguyen Thi Huong) is a Vietnamese author who has had considerable success in her own country. Born in 1971 in
Hanoi , Her father died in 1981 leaving a family of nine, five of them younger than Huong. She escaped and went to work inHanoi where she married and had a son followed a year later by a daughter. She completed a course in writing and poetry and soon met a British man whom she married six months later and they moved toEngland in 1998, living mainly inYork .Keenleyside had been writing since an early age. Her first book was "The secret of soul". When the second, "For the love of Vietnam" was first published in Hanoi, the Vietnamese police tried to stop many newspapers from reviewing it. However the book still sold well and was popular.
She has published a number of books, including a best seller: "Rainbow in Iraq". The most recent, "Agent 022", was about her uncle who worked as a spy in the South Vietnamese Police Office for monitoring suspected North Vietnamese agents. There he was able to protect many
Vietcong and other agents working for the North. The book is also a romantic novel as Agent Ngoc Lan was ordered to marry a young French girl. This book was published in the UK in December 2007 under the new title "For the love of Vietnam" by Janus Publishing Ltd. Her new book "The God mother' is due to be published in 2009. With her sister Lan Anh and Huyen Kolab help, the Keenleyside set up "Huong Keenleyside fashion group" in Vietnam. Today Huong Keenleyside is well know as a fashion designer.References
