Aims and objectives
Haroonabad is a far flung and backward Tehsil of the District Bahawalnagar in Southern Punjab, which consists of almost 450,000 inhabitants. The facilities provided by the Government are insufficient to fulfill the basic need of the people in such a populous city. The majority of the population is compelled to suffer a life of poverty and scarcity, owing to the shortage of educational institutions, diseases increase because of insufficient facilities of health and hygiene and poor availability of employment resources. The public at large has to face trying situation because of the shortage of para-medical staff in general and the specialist doctors in particular, in the only public hospital here. The scarcity of the resources of income forces 35% of the children to live without proper schooling and to labour at an early age. Keeping in view these situations and demanding problems, a few young men aim to alleviate the sufferings of the common people.

Public health
1) Medical camp: This department holds a key position in the organization. Through this department, people are provided free treatment by expert doctors. In this regard, 16,000 deserving patients have been provided treatment in 18 medical camps.
2) Eye camps: The majority of people above 45 suffer from eye diseases. Owing to the environmental situation of our area, the non-availability of an eye specialist worsens the gravity of this situation. So, for the revival of the people's eyesight, the organization has provided medicines to 30514 patients and arranged for the operation of 16588 through 22 eye camps.
The famous Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital of Islamabad held a five-day camp at Haroonabad, in collaboration with the Hatif Welfare Society. In 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006, a large number of patients of the locality were provided treatment through these camps.
3) Blood bank: Twenty blood-grouping camps were held to create awareness among the common people, for blood donation. Blood group of 10,000 people was checked free of cost.
4) Hatif basic health care center: The organization has been able to establish the Basic Health Care Center in the poorest and most populous locality of Haroonabad, Tibbia Ghallian Wala, with the financial collaboration of T.V.O. (Trust for Voluntary Organization) Bahawapur. In this center, an M.B.B.S. doctor with his team was providing treatment to the public on confessional charges.
The organization has spent about Rs.13,00,000/- under the Public Health Department. This was the pilot project which has been completed.
5) Ambulance service: To provide the service of shifting patients from Haroonabad to other cities in critical cases, Hatif Ambulance Service has been launched. An ambulance has been bought for 22,00,000 equipped with the latest medical facilities.
Education
Knowledge Inn: Lack of education is a basic problem of our area. 50% of the children are deprived of schooling because of poverty and the school going children face financial troubles. To solve this problem, more than 5000 boys and girls have been provided free school and college books through the Book Bank, named "Knowledge Inn" started in 1994 worth Rs.9,00,000.
Hatif Quran Academy:Hatif Quran Academy has been established to provide the Quranic education to children. At present, 56 children are receiving education.
Vocational Training Center for Women: In this area, lack of education is mostly due to poverty; particularly employment chances for women are very scarce. Hatif Vocational Training Center has been established to provide employment domestically to women. Women are trained in sewing, embroidery and knitting on modern machines in this center. So far 325 women have benefited by this center.
Narcotics control
Where problems of education and health are emerging because of poverty, there negative activities are also flourishing. People turn to drugs to get rid of their worries for the time being. A compact and comprehensive programme has been made with the collaboration of Anti Narcotics Force Punjab, to provide awareness to such people in particular and the common people in general. Walks, seminars and sports events are arranged to create awareness against drug abuse. Health activities are promoted through these programmes with the help of speech and articles creating hatred against narcotics.
Child labour
Children are our future asset. To protect this wealth and prepare them for the national service, it is necessary to provide them beneficial training, rather than to let it be wasted in the form of child labour. Effective struggle is made to convey this wisdom and awareness to the common people.
ervices in natural disasters
Whenever our beloved country faces some natural disaster "HATIFAN" have a step at forefront. 1998 flood created the destruction throughout the country. Hatifans helped the people in the area of ALI PUR MUZAFFAR GARH with money of 10,00,000 and basic necessities of life were distributed among the people. In 2001 millions of people suffered much due to worst drought. Hatifans helped the people with 2 trucks of foodstuffs contributed by citizens.
The earthquake of Oct. 2005 was a huge calamity and trial for the nation. Hatifans reached there with necessities and foodstuffs, along with a medical team to rescue the suffering brethren in the affected areas. Its cost was about Rs.4,706,600.
