- Outdoor Activity Club
Outdoor Activity Club, sometimes known as Outdoor Adventure Club, (abbreviation: ODAC ) is a
Co-curricular activity (CCA) in some junior colleges and universities inSingapore andApplewood Heights Secondary School . People gather to go for camps, cycling trips, overseas adventure trip, or organise competition. Adventure Jamboree is an annual event inter-organised by all local universities' ODAC.In a JC, it is a popular CCA which is hard to get in as there is a certain qouta on the number of members. Freshmen to the JC will have to go through selection trials and maybe camps so as to get themselves into the club. It is a club for people with love and passion for outdoor and adventure.
In the Singapore Management University(SMU), the outdoor adventure arm is known as SMU Xtremists (SMUX). In countary to other ODACs which are CCA clubs status, SMUX is holding the stautus of a Student Body with each activity under it having a CCA status. It was awarded this status by the SMU offices for its rapid growing in terms of size and activity types. Its mission statement
has motivated its executive committees(Known as Crew) to steer the club towards contributing to the university's vibrant student life rather than individual achievements. Adventure Jamboree main aim is to promote interaction between fellow ODACians of different campus. ODACians from JC are mixed together to form groups to go on a fun race. The race usually last for 2 days. Friendships are built during the period of the activity.
Adventure Jamboree 2007 was organised by SMUXtremists, the outdoor adventure arm of Singapore Management University. It was a huge success and is well-received by participating JC ODACs.
