census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,752 people and 688 households residing in the neighborhood. Thepopulation density was 2,023/mi². The racial makeup of the neighborhood was 5.0% White, 92.0% African American, 3.0% Native American, 0.0% Asian, less than 1.0% from other races, and none from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.0% of the population.There were 688 households out of which 20% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31% were married couples living together, 25% had a female householder with no husband present, and 6% were non-families. 30% of all households were made up of individuals.
In the neighborhood the population was spread out with 27% under the age of 18, 16% from 18 to 34, 20% from 35 to 49, 18% from 50 to 64, and 19% who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 79.9 males.
