"She's Madonna" is the third and final international single released from Robbie Williams's album "Rudebox". A collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys, it is a love song to pop star Madonna and was released on March 5, 2007.cite web|url=http://www.petshopboys.co.uk|title=Pet Shop Boys official website|accessdate=2007-02-25]

A promotional copy was released to European radio in late January to precede the CD single. The song became one of Williams' lower-charting hits in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 16. Elsewhere it was more successful, peaking at number one in eight countries and in the European 100 singles chart. "She's Madonna" reached number eleven in the United World Chart.

It was confirmed that this single was not going to be released in Latin America. For a limited time an exclusive remix ("Dark Horse Remix") was available to purchase on Williams' official website, it has not been made available anywhere else.

History

"She's Madonna" was inspired by a conversation Robbie Williams had with Guy Ritchie's ex-girlfriend Tania Strecker, about the way Ritchie left her for Madonna - Strecker quoted Ritchie as saying "Look, you know I really love you, but she's "Madonna"."cite web|url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp/news/news/2006/07/24/34229.shtml|title=Ritchie Ditch|first=Fraser|last=M|publisher=bbc.co.uk|date=2006-07-24|accessdate=2007-02-21] According to the BBC's "Top of the Pops" website, Williams had played the song to Madonna shortly after writing it, receiving a positive reaction. Musically, the song was inspired by Kraftwerk's track "Tour de France" - Williams stated::"I played "Tour De France" by Kraftwerk and said “I like this, Can we do something like this, but not much like this", but then everything else came together pretty quickly."

Trivia

The gibberish you can hear him speaking at the end of the song (bono estente, etc) is in a made-up language, that comes from the a series of sketches called Chanel 9 from the British comedy show The Fast Show.

Music video

The music video was shot in Los Angeles and features Williams as a professional drag queen in full regalia, as well as performing to drag queens in a nightclub, dressed in a white jacket.
