Stine Rossel

Stine Rossel

Stine Rossel is a Danish archaeologist. She works at the University of Copenhagen. Her interests include zooarchaeology, the effects of environmental change on animal use, and the rise of complex societies.

On October 20, 2007, while hiking in the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Stine Rossel and Brian Wood were involved in a tragic accident that led to the death of Stine. They were enjoying a beautiful fall day when the accident occurred, and we know that Stine did not suffer. We are all shocked and deeply saddened by this event. All who met Stine know what an instantly likable, generous, and truly wonderful person she was. We all lack words to describe her beauty and the positive impact she had on so many of us. She was a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology and had just finished her doctorate this September. Brian and Stine were married two months prior in a wonderful ceremony north of Copenhagen. Stine was visiting Brian while on a break from teaching at the University of Copenhagen.
