Herbert Edward Stacy Abbott (born November 19 1814) was a Major-General in the British Indian Army in India during colonial rule.
Early life

Publications
He wrote an account of the Indian Mutiny that was not intended for public circulation at the time entitled "Particulars of the mutiny at Delhi, on the 11 May, 1857". [See British Library Catalogue, London, England]
Other contributions

Family and background
He married Lady Sarah Fenton-Aylmer. He was the son of George Edward Abbott (died 1822) and Ann (or Anna) Maria Stacy, who married in India. George Edward Abbott was the Head Assistant in the Calcutta General Post Office. [Notes and Queries, August 26th 1933, Page 138] Ann Maria was the daughter of the Reverend Henry Peter Stacy (born c1760). HES Abbott's sister Marianne Sarah Abbott (1808-1887) married Charles Scott Hadow.
