Hàn Thế Thành

Hàn Thế Thành (sometimes incorrectly written "Han The Thanh") was the original author of pdfTeX, which he used as a vehicle for his doctoral study on microtypography (see also justification) at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, Brno, which he completed in 2000. Thành is originally from Vietnam. His variant of TeX allows for the direct output of pdf files while still using the same packages as TeX.
