Rufus King Waddle

Rufus King Waddle was born in Greene County, Tennessee on December 31 1816 and died in there on July 20 1878.

Waddle ran the first stage coach from Hot Springs, Madison County, North Carolina to Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee.

He was a Justice of the Peace and is listed in Goldene Fillers Burgner's "Greene County, Tennessee Marriages, 1783-1868." He married a lot of people. He owned a large home and was a slave owner.

He helped to establish two churches, Rehobeth Methodist and Beersheba Methodist Church by donating land and building the Beersheba Methodist Church. He was one of the charter members of the Beersheba Masonic Lodge, which was founded August 8, 1873 and the lodge still stands on the land that he donated.
