John A. Fentener van Vlissingen

John Arthur Fentener van Vlissingen (born on 4 march 1939, Utrecht) is a Dutch businessman. He is one of the richest people in the Netherlands and has made major investment in the travel industry. The total capital of the family is according to Quote magazine at around 9,2 billion euros. The wealth of Fentener van Vlissingen was even found in "Quote 500" calculated to be €1.6 billion.

Out of the three brothers (John, Frits, who died in March 2006, and Paul, who died in August 2006) his career was not with the family company SHV Holdings, but he began his own company, BCD Holdings BV, followed by World Travel BTI and Park n' Fly, all worth around €5 billion and all are in the top 3 business organizations in the United States and The Netherlands.

BCD Holdings started off as a real estate company in 1975 as Property Management Advisory Services. In 1976, this was renamed to NORO after the name NIRO was rejected because it had been taken, and NORA reminded Fentener van Vlissingen of a girlfriend he once had and he did not want to be reminded of her. So they chose the name NORO. ["The Art of Enterprise-BCD Holdings 1975-2000" ISBN 90-901399-5-8 ] . Only in 1986 was BCD founded, after the separation of Noro management advisories and investments by the establishment of BCD ["The Art of Enterprise-BCD Holdings 1975-2000" ISBN 90-901399-5-8 ] . In 1987, World Travel Advisories was purchased. In 2006, BCD Holdings was renamed to BCD Travel.
