Barbara Perry

Barbara Perry is a New South Wales Australian Labor Party politician representing the state electoral district of Auburn, born on May 9, 1963.

Perry is the daughter of Lebanese immigrants, Ralph and Susan Abood, and is married with five sons. She was educated by the Sisters of Charity and the Marist Brothers. She graduated in law from the University of Sydney and worked at the Legal Aid Commission from 1990. She was the first woman of Lebanese origin to be elected to the Legislative Assembly. [cite web

In 2008, due to a reshuffling of the cabinet, Perry was appointed Minister for Local Government and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Mental Health).
