Himbasha

Himbasha is a celebration bread [cite book|last=Warren|first=Olivia|title=Taste of Eritrea: Recipes from One of East Africa's Most Interesting Little Countries|year=2000|publisher=Hippocrene Books, Inc.|id= ISBN 978-0-7818-0764-7] that is slightly sweet. It is often served at special occasions. It is prepared in a number of varieties, however the most distinctive flavoring is that of the ground cardamom seeds that lend it an exotic flavor.

The dough is given a decorative touch prior to baking. The design will vary in its detail but in general it is given the shape of a wheel with indentations to create a number of spokes. Points on each spoke will be connected with a corresponding point on a neighboring spoke with another indentation

Common additions to the recipe include ginger (candied) or raisins, although plain varieties are common as well.
