"The Courts of the Morning" is a 1929 novel by John Buchan. It features Richard Hannay, though not as a major character, so it is sometimes not included in that series.

Plot summary

Hannay is approached by the American military attache in London to engage in a covert operation. He decides to seek out his friend Sandy Arbuthnot for help. Hannay visits Sandy's house in the Scottish Borders, but Sandy soon disappears.

The story involves a ruthless South American dictator, who is powerful and charismatic, and also the mastermind of a global conspiracy.
