April 2 ,1959 inRibe ) is a Danish former professionalfootball (soccer) player. He played 27 matches and scored three goals for the Danish national team, and represented Denmark at the 1984 European Championship.John Lauridsen started his senior career with
Esbjerg fB in Denmark in 1978. Lauridsen was a part of the Esbjerg team that won the 1979 Danish championship, and he made his Danish national team debut in August 1981. In 1982, he moved abroad and became a full-time professional forRCD Espanyol in the SpanishLa Liga championship. He and Espanyol most notably reached the 1988UEFA Cup final, but were beaten byBayer Leverkusen inpenalty shootout . He went on to play seven seasons for Espanyol, scoring 26 goals in 213 league matches for the club. While at Espanyol, he was part of the Danish squad at the 1984 European Championship, where he took part in two games and scored a goal against Yugoslavia.He switched from Espanyol to league rivals
CD Málaga in 1988, where he played for two seasons. Lauridsen moved back to Denmark in 1990, to end his career with Esbjerg fB. Following a total of 173 matches and 35 goals for Esbjerg, he ended his career in November 1992.Honours
