David G. Ball

David G. Ball

David George Ball (16 November 1936, Gloucester) graduated from Yale with a B.A. in 1960 and from Columbia University with a J.D. in 1964. Upon graduation he joined the law firm White & Case. During this time he served on New York mayor, John Vliet Lindsay's Task Force on Tax Policy. He briefly served as general counsel from the counsel before moving to The Babcock & Wilcox Co. in 1970, where he served as assistant counsel from 1971 to 1974. Ball joined AMAX Inc. in 1974 and rose through the ranks of the company, eventually becoming President of AMAX Central. Services. In 1989 Ball was nominated by George H. W. Bush to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor. The nomination was successful and he served in the capacity until 1992.
