Bob Jude Ferrante

Bob Jude Ferrante (born 1959) is an American playwright and composer from New York City. By his own claim his work is composed solely of comedies, although the serious core at the heart of many of his plays seems to contradict that claim somewhat. He received a B.A. from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio in 1981.

Work in the theatre

Bob's evening "Twinges" played in New York City Fall 2002 and garnered kudos from the NY press. His short "Scene Analysis for Fun & Profit" was a finalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville Heideman Award and, along with his short "Men's", has been produced in festivals everywhere from Seattle to London. His full-length plays "Tragedy" and "subCity" had recent New York City runs and his play "Hemlock, a Greek Diner Tragedy" premiered in Dallas to critical raves. Bob's work is regularly published in the Smith and Kraus "Best Stage Scenes" and "Best Monologues" series. He was also awarded a commission by Praxis Theatre Project in New York City which resulted in his play "The New Life".

Bob is also a minor music composer who has written over 200 songs. His plays "Hemlock, a Greek Diner Tragedy", "The Buffoon Piece", "Flowers of War" and "The New Life" include some of these songs.

Bob also currently serves as Managing Director of , a New York City-based coalition of playwright/producers. The company recently produced the "Six Nights" site-specific series and "Food for Fish" by Adam Szymkowicz, which garnered favorable reviews from "The New York Times" and "The New Yorker".
