Donald Gardner

Donald Gardner, is an American architect who specializes in the design of single-family homes. Donald A. Gardner home designs have been featured in consumer and trade publications including Southern Living, Better Homes and Gardens, Home, House Beautiful, and Builder. His residential design firm -- Donald A. Gardner Architects, Inc. -- designs house plans as unique interpretations of the American family home, including open floor plans and custom-styled features. The firm's portfolio features more than 800 pre-designed house plans, with more than forty added each year.

Donald A. Gardner, AIA, NCARB and his firm have received over 50 awards in a broad range of honor and achievement categories, including the first annual Dell/NFIB Small Business Excellence in Customer Service Award in 2004. The firm and its founder hold memberships in the American Institute of Architects, National Association of Home Builders, National Federation of Independent Business, and Better Business Bureau.

Donald Gardner’s architecture firm is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina and in addition to designing home plans, the firm also publishes two nationally distributed house plan magazines: Designs magazine for builders and At Home With Donald A. Gardner magazine, a newsstand plan publication.

History

Donald Gardner graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and served two years in the Army Corps of Engineers before returning to Upstate South Carolina. After becoming a registered architect, he worked with various architectural firms for 14 years, gaining experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential design. Gardner founded Donald A. Gardner Architects, Inc. in 1978 as a one-man part-time business. By 1984, the architect was able to commit his attention full-time to Donald A. Gardner Architects, Inc. Since then, Donald Gardner has grown the architecture firm into a full-service design firm, and formed several successful sister companies with a combined total of more than 60 employees, including four registered architects.
