GovBenefits.gov

[http://www.govbenefits.gov GovBenefits.gov] was launched by the U.S. Department of Labor in April 2002, as a Web site designed to provide American citizens with access to government benefit eligibility information. GovBenefits.gov helps citizens determine their potential eligibility for more than 1,000 government-funded benefit and assistance programs. Visitors can complete an on-line questionnaire, and GovBenefits.gov matches benefit programs with their needs and provides information on how to apply.

GovBenefits.gov includes information on a variety of benefit and assistance programs for veterans, seniors, students, teachers, children, people with disabilities, dependents, disaster victims, farmers, caregivers, job seekers, prospective homeowners, and more.

President’s Management Agenda

GovBenefits.gov is an element of the President’s Management Agenda, implemented by George W. Bush, to migrate toward a collaborative electronic government that is more focused on people and results. The initiative is a collaborative partnership of 16 federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Labor (managing partner), U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Interior, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Treasury, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as the Small Business Administration and Social Security Administration.
