Backåkra

Backåkra

Backåkra is a small village in Ystad Municipality in southern Sweden. It is most well known as the summer residence of Dag Hammarskjöld, Secretary-General of the United Nations (1953-1961), which is now a museum displaying artifacts of his tenure at the UN. It is also used as a retreat for members of the Swedish Academy, of which Hammarskjöld was a member.
