Georges "Géo" Ivan André (
August 13 ,1889 –May 4 ,1943 ) was a French athlete who competed mainly in thehigh jump .He competed for France in the 1908 Summer Olympics held in
London ,Great Britain in the high jump where he tied for the silver medal with BritishCornelius Leahy and HungarianIstván Somodi . At the1912 Summer Olympics inStockholm his results weren't good. He also competed in the1920 Summer Olympics inAntwerp this time in the 4 x 400 metres relay with team matesGaston Féry ,Maurice Delvart andJean Delvaux who together won the bronze medal.André took the
Olympic Oath at the1924 Summer Olympics inParis . He competed incurling at the1924 Winter Olympics inChamonix , winning a bronze medal in the team event.André served as a fighter pilot in
World War I , then joined theinfantry inWorld War II . He was killed nearTunis by German forces in 1943.References
