Irene Howard

Irene Mary Stainer Howard (17 June 1903 – December 1981) was a distinguished English costume designer of Jewish Hungarian descent.

Irene Howard was born in Croydon, Surrey, a daughter of Frank and Lillian Steiner. The family anglicised their name, initially to Stainer and subsequently to Howard. Her brothers Leslie Howard, Arthur Howard and nephew Alan Howard became successful actors. She died in Camden age 78.
